Who are we?

Welsh Flag The aim of the Wales Supporters Football Team website, is to provide a comprehensive history of the Welsh football supporters' matches, home and away, since the first match kicked off on a sunny afternoon in Helsinki, on September 7th, 2002. The idea of a supporters' football team was conceived by a few regular Wales fans, over a beer, in a Yerevan bar during 2001. As it turned out, Wales' next competitive match was the first of the 2004 qualifying campaign away to Finland, so a message was posted on a Finnish supporters' message board offering a supporters game. They accepted and the plan went ahead. On 7th September, 2002, the first Wales supporters' team made their international debut.

About the team...

Since 2002, the Wales supporters' team has played many games across Europe and beyond, from Manchester to Moscow, from Azerbaijain to America, Wales supporters have turned up, proud to be given the chance to represent their country. Many players have been involved, some made just one appearance, some have appeared in every match. Even ex-Wales internationals, Dave Phillips and Malcolm Allen, played for the supporters' team in Belgrade, while in Vienna, the team came up against some classy opponents, including European Cup final winner and ex-Austrian international Hans Krankl!

It's not just about football...

The Wales Supporters' Team also has strong links with the Gôl charity, set up by a group of Welsh football fans who wanted to make a difference to the local community in Baku, Azerbaijan while following the Welsh football team. Following visits to several orphanages in Baku during 2002, similar visits to orphanages have since become a regular feature of Welsh fans' away trips along with the supporters' matches. On a number of occassions, members of the supporters team have also played football with orphanage children, with mixed results!!!
